Heron Bay

Heron Bay

Our first timber frame home draws a lot of attention. During construction of this home, neighbours brought their lawn chairs and watched as the timbers and SIPs were craned into position. Oak dowels hold every joint, and each piece is masterfully sculpted for beauty and strength. Fir T&G spans over the ceiling rafters and large front windows frame the lake views and the Big Dipper in the night sky.

In addition to the timber structure, this home is full of handcrafted components built from local diamond willows. Marianne spent hours and hours walking the nearby forest, pulling “gems” from the forest floor and turning them into one of a kind features for the interior of her new home.

Tradition prescribes that once the timber frame is standing, an offering is made to the forest for its contribution. A small tree was selected and we broke all the rules… We dramatically elevated the tree like a crown to the structure. Thank you to the forest!
